Have you ever been curious about the tile game American mahjong but weren't sure how to learn more? Randolph area mahjong players will be offering instruction and guided play at Kimball Library. Vermont-based fiddler and singer Lissa Schneckenburger will headline an intimate concert in the Esther Mesh Room at Chandler Center for the Arts on Saturday February 28th at 7 PM. Described as a "quietly virtuosic" fiddler with a "pure and clear" voice "full of simple emotion" by All Music Guide, Schneckenburger's repertoire has a wide range of tempos and emotions. Lissa will be joined by Rachel Aucoin on piano and Samuel Foucher on accordion, presenting an evening of original and traditional New England folk music. The concert will feature music from Schneckenburger's most recent album "Falling Forward," recorded in Springfield, Mass., with acclaimed musicians including producer and fiddler Katie McNally, pianist Rachel Aucoin, bassist Mali Obomsawin, cellist Natalie Haas, and accordionist Karen Tweed. The album blends joyful, dance-driven fiddle tunes with quieter, introspective moments. It is Schneckenburger's first fiddle-forward album in over a decade, drawing on New England, Scottish, and French-Canadian traditional music as well as her own original compositions. Chair Yoga will be starting again this coming Monday, Jan. 5 at the Senior Center in Randolph. Chair Yoga combines gentle stretching and strengthening, using a chair, for improved balance and flexibility. Careful attention to breathing and alignment make this a safe and effective class for beginners, as well as those with more experience. We also incorporate mindfulness (being fully present without judgment) into our practice for additional benefits, including stress reduction and relaxation. Every Monday, 1-2:15 pm. Join us for our Empty Bowls Dinner on Friday, March 20 from 5-7 PM at the Randolph Union High School Cafeteria. The Randolph Area Food Shelf is teaming up again this year with Third Branch Pottery Supply, who will be donating gorgeous bowls, and a number of local restaurants, who will be preparing soup (we will also have bread, dessert and soft drinks)! Cost is $25 for dinner and a handmade pottery bowl or $15 for just dinner. Proceeds will benefit the food shelf! Can't wait to see you there!
