Neighborhood Block Party
On Saturday, June 27, a section of Prospect Avenue, from Grove Street to South Street will be closed to traffic from 2PM to 6PM for a neighborhood block party. All residents of Hospital Hill are invited to this event that will take place on Prospect Avenue. The goal is for neighbors to get to know each other better and to be able to enjoy this car-free street for a few hours on a summer Saturday. Several Hospital Hill residents applied for a small grant through Local Motion, a Burlington-based non-profit that supports efforts to make Vermont roads and streets safer and more attractive for walking and bicycling. If you want to plan a block party for your neighborhood, reach out for advice, budget, etc.
The party will include hamburgers, hot dogs, non-alcoholic beverages and maple creemees provided by the organizers. Attendees are encouraged to bring side dishes such as chips, salads, vegetarian items, and desserts. Activities will include ping-pong, cornhole, sidewalk chalk and other fun events designed to draw neighbors together. People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. All ages are welcome and an area will be set aside for kids to bike around. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome.
Other Randolph residents should note the street closure and adjust any travel plans, if necessary.
Hospital Hill residents who are interested in helping to organize the event, or those who have any questions, should email Anne Kaplan at anne3kaps@gmail.com.
We look forward to seeing as many of our Hospital Hill neighbors as possible in a couple of weeks!!
